According to The Information, Anthropic anticipates spending far less on compute for training and operating its AI models over the coming years, giving it a significant cost edge over OpenAI.

 The specifics:

Anthropic projects that compute costs will be $6 billion in 2025, compared to OpenAI's $15 billion, and $27 billion by 2028, compared to OpenAI's $111 billion.

Unlike OAI, which heavily relies on Nvidia, the company uses processors from Google, Amazon, and Nvidia for specific jobs, which could result in savings.

The announcement comes after Anthropic increased its revenue projections, stating that company anticipates generating $70 billion in sales by 2028 and being cash flow positive by 2027.

In contrast, OpenAI anticipates reaching $100 billion in revenue in 2028 but is unlikely to turn a profit by 2030. With an emphasis on efficiency and enterprise focus, Anthropic is developing AI in a more subdued and methodical manner (80% of its revenue comes from APIs).

OpenAI, on the other hand, is pursuing expansion through a product-focused push in ChatGPT, research, Atlas, and other areas.

The next stage of AI will be shaped by how these decisions turn out.
