OpenAI's committed expertise in health
In order to facilitate health conversations, OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Health, a new private experience within the chatbot that allows users to pull in their medical records and fitness app data, relying on personal context rather than generic advice.

The specifics:

With a b.well integration that enables users to import records from healthcare providers, the tool leverages systems such as Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and Peloton.

OAI has promised not to utilize health discussions to train models, and they will have their own separate memory and more robust encryption for privacy.

According to data recently disclosed by OAI, more than 40 million people utilize the site every day for health-related information, including insurance inquiries and symptom checks.

Although pulling in actual medical records is currently limited to people in the United States, a waitlist opens today and wider web and iOS access is anticipated soon.

The stakes in healthcare are clearly bigger, but OpenAI is moving on to yet another broad vertical, joining education and retail. Health declines just as the technology appears to be on the verge of acquiring some significant new medical capabilities, given the news about AI prescription refills (see below) and the FDA's growing interest in AI devices.
