The latest Personal Intelligence upgrade for Gemini
Google recently unveiled Personal Intelligence, a new experimental feature that enables Gemini to leverage data from apps like Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search to provide more tailored results without requiring users to designate which app to pull from.

The specifics:

By connecting Google's app suite to Gemini, Personal Intelligence enables the assistant to recognize, find, and utilize personalized information in a proactive manner.

VP Josh Woodward described how the AI used his emails and photos to assist at a tire shop, demonstrating the tool's ability to reason across text, images, and videos.

Google claims that it will not directly train its AI models on linked data, such as inboxes or photo libraries, thus personal intelligence is turned off by default.

First available to Gemini AI Pro and Ultra members in the United States, the capability will eventually be extended to free tiers and AI Mode.

With billions of consumers already using Gmail, Photos, and YouTube, it appears like Google is now playing the card that its AI competitors will never be able to match. Deep integrations with personal context from popular apps will be the key differentiation as frontier models all become incredibly capable for the average user.
