Claude's access to Excel is expanded by Anthropic
After a three-month beta period that was restricted to Max and Enterprise plans, Anthropic recently increased access to its Claude for Excel interface, making the AI spreadsheet assistant available to Pro-tier clients.

The specifics:

When Claude for Excel first debuted in research preview in October, it integrated the assistant straight into the text sidebar of Microsoft's spreadsheet program.

Thanks to behind-the-scenes memory management, users may now bring in multiple spreadsheets simultaneously and work longer without exceeding session limitations.

In order to prevent Claude from inadvertently overwriting data when making adjustments, the update also includes measures to preserve existing cell contents.

With Code, Cowork, and now a more comprehensive Claude for Excel release taking on significant knowledge work, 2026 has been the year of getting "Claudepilled." The days of needing to understand intricate formulas and shortcuts are ending, just as coding is becoming entirely automated.
