A new Superintelligence Team is established by Microsoft

Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, unveiled the MAI Superintelligence Team, a research group devoted to creating cutting-edge systems that address particular issues in fields like energy and medical over open-ended AGI. The specifics: Suleyman prioritized AI that "always works for, in service of, people and humanity more generally," emphasizing the development of "Humanist Superintelligence." The team will concentrate on specific, high-impact social issues, such as advancements in sustainable energy, medical superintelligence, and AI learning companions. Karen Simonyan, a co-founder of Suleyman's Inflection, is acting as chief scientist alongside researchers who were stolen from DeepMind, OAI, and Anthropic. The news follows Microsoft's new agreement with OAI, which permits both companies to independently research superintelligence. Over the past few years, all of the big AI laboratories have developed their own distinctive vibe. It appears that Suleyman has finally created one for Microsoft's AGI initiatives, creating a "humanist" identity and distinctive direction that were lacking for a large portion of the tech giant's initial OAI arrangement.
